FUNCTION: Adaptive Reuse
Within the scope of the Survey and Re-functioning lesson, the building was surveyed in the 2nd block in Iznik / Konak Square. The facade and interior of the building were photographed and technical sheet prepared. Considering the technical sheet prepared, the parts of the structure that need to be definitely changed were identified and an intervention sheet was prepared. The function defined in our group to proceed to the re-functioning step within the scope of the lesson (Iznik Local Kitchen Center) was prepared with a list of needs and these were determined as dining halls, wc, kitchen, service lift, cold-frozen and dry warehouse. Corporate identity details were studied, making it easier to fit the concept of the place. The purpose of this place; is to offer a restaurant concept that serves only foods that are unique to the Iznik district and not found elsewhere. In line with this concept, a restaurant was designed where local materials and patterns meet modern lines. With the openings and glass surfaces on the facades, it is aimed to show wide and invite the public inside. Likewise, wooden beams and glass roof on the terrace are designed to make customers feel free in the space.
