FUNCTION: Adaptive Reuse

Iznik Sgraffito Art Center project was planned instead of the commercial functions in the existing building in the re-functioning work planned in the 1st block of Iznik Konak Square. According to this decision based on the needs of the region, Iznik Konak Square was designed to appeal to users of all ages.

Ceramic scraping method Sgraffito, which is associated with the historical structure and culture of Iznik, was taken as the starting point in the project development phase. During the design phase, it was taken as a basis to preserve the historical texture and combine it with modernism. The Sgraffito Art Center consists of the exhibition, café and Sgraffito sales areas, which provide the opportunity to socialize to the local people, besides the trainings given in the tiles and design workshops.
